What is the Read-a-thon?
The Read-a-thon is a fun PTA program that promotes literacy and creates good reading habits that will last a lifetime. It is also a time to help our school raise needed funds for future programs that benefit all the children of Roosevelt. This year, our theme is REAL LIFE SUPERHEROES. We hope to read stories about people who inspire us like teachers, nurses, scientists and many non-fiction characters throughout history.

When is the Read-a-thon?
We are excited for a SUPER sized Read-a-thon! This year, the entire month of February is dedicated reading and celebrating our real life superheroes Fundraising and reading logs will be distributed during the last week of January. Reading logs are due Monday, March 2nd . Monies pledged must be turned in by Friday March 8th to be eligible for the various prizes.

How does my child participate in the Read-a-thon?
During the Read-a-thon EVERY CHILD in the school maintains a reading log. Minutes logged includes anytime spent reading books or music, their “being read to” time, or for younger TK and K students sitting and looking at a book.
Your child has the option of gathering sponsors to make pledges for their reading time or for a flat donation. Any amount raised will help and is greatly appreciated! These sponsors are typically you, family, close friends and neighbors, and parent’s work associates. No child should go door to door.

What makes the Read-a-thon special and fun?
